  • Huey will be appearing on Jools Holland’s Hootenanny on BBC2 on New Year’s Eve alongside Ash amongst others. It will be repeated on New Year’s Day.

  • The FLC have also announced (according to the Viki at the FLC Bodega) their plans to start recording a new album in March 2002. Apparently, they already have nine songs, including Got Our Love and Too Hot To Trot. Huey describes the new songs as "nu-classics" and has expressed a desire to move away from the lounge-core sound of Loco and mercifully return to the funk/rock sound of their earlier stuff. "We're trying to bring back the real classics, like disco tunes that we remember, but played like musicians. And we want to do rock'n'roll stuff too". The band are hoping to have the record completed by late spring, in time to return for the summer festivals and a tour in the UK.

  • Mercifully none of the band were in town on September 11th so they are all fine physically. Obviously though the band are as devastated by what happened to their hometown as the rest of the world. Apparently their management company is only five blocks from the World Trade Center, but there was no one there when the planes hit, so they are safe as well.

  • Huey was pulled over by police as he drove an electric golf buggy along a main road whilst at the Leeds Festival in August 2001. He “borrowed” the cart from the organizers of the Leeds Festival where the band were playing at the weekend. But instead of touring the site, he took the rest of the band on a trip towards the city centre and was stopped by cops. He faces a £40 fine for having an unlicensed vehicle on a public road. Huey laughed off getting caught and even dedicated the band's last song to the officers who pulled him over.

  • New gigs announced. See above.

  • The band's current album, Loco, is due to get a vinyl release as a double LP on November 5 2001, in a limited run of 1,000 copies.

  • Fun Lovin’ Criminals have recruited supermodel Jodie Kidd to appear in the video for their new single Bump. The track is released as a double A-side with Run Daddy Run on August 13 2001. Both tracks on the single feature on the band's current album Loco, and will be backed by various remixes of the tracks and a live version of Bump recorded in Dubai across the formats.

  • They will release a DVD titled Love Ya Back on August 27 2001. The DVD features the band's videos, the short film Maui Homicide 2000 and a small 'on-the-road' documentary of the band.

  • Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Groove Armada and Armand van Helden are the acts confirmed for the Lynx Zero Gravity event, which will take place at a secret location. The company, who held their event last year in Ibiza with Leftfield and Basement Jaxx performing, promise that the party will be based around a theme of 'Space Hedonism'.

  • U2's Bono, The Edge and Larry Mullen Junior joined Fun Lovin’ Criminals' Huey and Fast at the opening of Huey's new Dublin bar, Voodoo, last night (December 14 2001).

According to www.showbizireland.com, the bands had a few drinks in U2's The Clarence hotel situated across the street from Voodoo, before Huey and Fast decamped to Voodoo.

Huey then took to the decks DJing through for an all-night party. He co-owns the bar with Dublin publican Dermot Doran.

  • It was reported in NME.COM that after years of trying to make his dream a reality, Huey is finally opening a restaurant in Dublin. The band have been trying for years to branch out into catering and initially had his heart set on opening an eatery in London’s Covent Garden. However, he said that due to red tape in London, he decided against the UK capital.

He said: "There are different zones, different parts of London that have small councils that are difficult to deal with. So I'm going to open a pizza joint, Di Fontaine's Pizzeria, in the middle of Dublin. We have the space, we're trying to get the ovens right now. We want to make it proper, get a card game going on out the back. You have to have a back room in a pizza joint," he laughed. He added that he plans to be in Dublin in person for the opening, he said: "I plan to be involved in it as much as I can."

  • Fun Lovin’ Criminals frontman Huey Morgan has branded Blur lead singer Damon Albarn a "cocksucker" after the pair almost came to blows last week (December 2000), NME.COM can reveal.

Huey and Damon's altercation happened when they bumped into each other at London's Kabaret Club in Soho. Speaking exclusively to NME.COM the following night, Huey accused Damon of acting like a "rock star" rather than being a real person and "hugging him like a homeboy" when they'd never been that close.

He explained: "He was out in a bar being an idiot. I liked the guy up until last night (but) he was acting like a cocky fuck, and I was like, 'Jesus Christ!' Some people like being rock stars and not taking it easy. He hugged me like I was his homeboy, and I don't hug this dude, I don't know him that well. Then I told him what I was up to and he told me it wasn't cool. I said. 'What do you mean it's not cool?? And he goes 'It's wack'. And I said 'You mean wack like your new video Damon?' And then he got all 'mer mer mer' and I said 'Damon I'm fuckin' wit you'. (But then) he got really pissed off, and started acting like a jerk, and telling me 'You don't know what's cool 'cos you don't live here', and I was like, 'Fuck off!' Fuck him, he can go suck a bolognaise!"

"I was so close to putting my foot in that kid's ass. So close. But I didn't. I was cool."

Damon Albarn was unavailable for comment as NME went to press.

  • Their "lounge-core" album is titled "Mimosa" and was released on 15th November 1999. The name comes from a champagne cocktail and will feature B-sides and rarities, along with some new songs.

  • There will also be a home video featuring 8 videos, live tracks and inner sanctum mischief which is due for release at Christmas 1999 time too.

  • Huey was also asked to pose for a waxwork of himself which will be shown in London's Rock Circus - and possibly even the one in New York.

  • Huey was arrested and charged for possession of cannabis on 16th June 1999. He was detained overnight at the police station, but was granted bail the next day. Sources say that he was just standing on the street smoking a spliff when caught.

  • They are currently writing tracks for their 3rd album, and are expected to be going into the studio in January 2000.
  • They are opening a UK based fan club in spring 2000.
